Green Park v Melling - Match Report by Lauren Grosz (Captain) 

 

On Friday 3rd November 2006, Green Park played against Melling Primary School. We travelled to Melling nervously but excited. In the first half we played really well. Green Park got the kick off. In the first minute or so we got a goal from Erin Devlin who came out of nowhere and got help by her team mates and supporters cheering, shot it in the goal and scored the first goal for Green Park.

When the whistle had blown for half time we were all really excited. Unfortunately, Brooke Whittle had to go home because it was her birthday and had played really well. Miss Blackham had a talk to us and she told us to ”keep trying and don’t give up”.

In the second half it was a very exciting game. Emma Reston defended well and Penny Anastasiou wouldn’t let any goals in. Also Lauren Grosz and Megan Calleja helped out but they were midfielders sometimes too. Soon we had Melissa Perrin score and later on another goal by Anneli Reed!

We had Alice Hazard, Lauren Grosz and Emma Reston helping to provide the goals. It was now 3-0 and we still weren’t tired!

Melissa Perrin played really well because defenders and nearly all the team were there but she took her time, lifted up her foot and scored right in the goal. This was now Melissa’s second goal and thanks to Anneli Reed for helping her with a great throw in!

Later on, Lauren Grosz by accident gave away a penalty. The person who took the penalty kick scored making it 4-1. It was now Green Parks’ kick off, just a second later Megan Calleja came running in with the ball, had loads of space, flipped it over the goalkeeper and scored the last and final goal.

One minute later the whistle blew. Green Park had won 5-1. We were all really happy and shook the other team’s hand and gave thema big, loud cheer.
