On Friday 22nd June the Y5 and Y6 girls football team went to play in the Sefton Min-Soccer Girls’ Football Tournament at Thornton. There was 22 teams including Green Park Girls. Our team was Penny Anastasiou, Melissa Perrin, Brooke Whittle, Anneli Reed, Megan Calleja, Emma Reston, Erin Devlin, Lauren Grosz, Alice Hazard and Miss Blackham. We won our first 4 games, scoring four goals in each game which got us in to the Quarter Finals. We were then put forward into a group of 3 so had 2 more matches to play. We won our first one 4-2 but then we lost the match before the semis. We were all upset but then we found out we had got through to the Semi Finals and we were all really happy. But then we lost the in the Semi-Final, so we didn’t get to the finals and we were really upset. We all really enjoyed playing the matches though.

I would just like to say a huge CONGRATULATIONS to all of the girls for a fine performance in pretty dismal weather conditions. You played really well as a team and I am very proud of all that you have achieved this season. Thanks once again to our tremendous army of supporters – it really spurs the girls on!
